About

Mountjoy Stables was established in 1996.  We offer riding lessons primarily to children in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.  We are licensed and insured.

As of January 2021 we are again, temporarily closed due to COVID-19 . Hopefully we will be able to open again soon. Under the previous restrictions we were able to offer some individual lessons, sometimes just to independent riders and sometimes to a child with an adult from the same household assisting. Depending on the restrictions going forward we hope to offer similar services in the near future.

In the meantime rest assured the ponies are being cared for by the usual staff and volunteers and are all good!

Services

Riding lessons

Lessons and rides are available in groups of up to six children - £15 for a 50 minutes. Individual lessons are also available which are £20 for a 40 minute session. These may consist of a hack, a lesson or a mixture of both.

Birthday parties

When restrictions are lifted we hope to resume birthday parties. Typically these consist of part grooming/leading and part riding for a total period of about one and half hours.

Part loan a pony

It is sometimes possible to part loan one of the riding school ponies. A single rider can then ride and help care for the pony during the week as well as take part in a supervised ride at the weekend for £100 per calendar month. Please ask for further details.
